What Is a Solar Panel?

A solar panel is a device that converts sunlight into electricity. Solar panels are made up of smaller units called solar cells. When light hits a solar cell, it knocks electrons loose from their atoms. Conductors on the panel collect these electrons and send them flowing through wires to create an electric current. That current can then be used to power electrical devices or to recharge batteries.

Solar panels are often used to power homes and businesses. They can also be used to generate electricity for entire communities, as in the case of a solar farm. Solar panels have many advantages over traditional forms of energy generation, such as coal-fired power plants. They emit no pollution, they are renewable, and they are relatively efficient and inexpensive to operate.

There are many different types of solar panel available on the market, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. The most important factor in choosing a solar panel is its efficiency, which refers to the amount of sunlight that the panel can convert into electricity. The higher the efficiency, the more expensive the panel will be. However, high-efficiency panels are often worth the extra cost because they require less space and generate more electricity over their lifetime.
